ABOUT US
Dot-Iris specializes in Handmade bits of goodness.
Kim started making headbands in February 2006 out of the need for a comfortable headband that was also cool-looking and versatile. She wore them to work and people adored them...asking her to make more! Make more she did. After some experimenting on the sewing machine and the addition of several sizes, the Dot-Iris Headband Explosion began.
Fabric is bought in small batches so the headbands remain pretty much one-of-a-kind. We are on the lookout for beautiful fabric constantly. People have given us vintage fabrics, we have cut up nice old shirts, and we have re-used donated upholstery samples (Thanks Bliss!)...not to mention scouring fabric and thrift shops throughout the southeast (and elsewhere when we can).
So, we set up shop in local outlets, did a few festivals and trade shows, and now we are selling online...and adding to our repertoire all the time. We have had a blast, and want to let that shine through in the products. A lot of care goes into these handmade goods.
We are always making new things, so keep on the lookout for new objects, items, wearables, etc...either at our retailers or here online.
Oh, the name? Kim's mom is Dot, and her aunt is Iris. They are from Jellico, a small town on the Tennessee border with Kentucky. We are proud to say that because the name means so much to us, we take pride in everything we do!
Thanks for being a part of it.
We Make Things.
